Honey Locust Turned Bowl (Oct 2010) Another fairly straightforward bowl - this time from Honey Locust. Looks a lot like mulberry with the creamy sapwood contrasting with the darker hardwood - in fact I'm starting to think I might have labeled this Honey Locust by mistake. Oh well, no biggie. There were a few cracks tht started near the pith but they remained tight and solid, athough I fortified them with a bit of thin CA for good measure. I was afraid they'd be structurally weak, but they remained strong and they provided a bonus accent to the simple form. Finished with home-made danish oil. 7.75" x 3". © Copyright 2010 Chris Billman |
