Walnut Turned Bowl (Oct 2010)
I'm not sure if I should call this a shallow bowl or a deep platter. Regardless, it's a stunning piece of wood from the crotch of a friend's tree. There was a crack that opened near the bottom of this picture that I've filled with CA. Normally I'd scrap the piece with this intrusive of a crack, but I couldn't dispose of such a gorgeous hunk of walnut. The chatoyance of the sapwood/heartwood transition area is a sight to behold
Finished with orange shellace and home-made danish oil. 12.5" x 2".
