Maple Turned Hollow Form (1/16/2007) And here is a
enclosed bowl (or is it a "hollow form"?) that I turned from a large-ish batch of sugar
maple I scored a few months ago. I've been roughing many of
the blanks and letting them dry, and this is the first piece out of that
batch. I used the DNA soak method for the first time on a few
of these pieces, and it seemed to work out well. There was still
a decent amount of distortion, but it cut the drying time down from 4 to
6 months to about 2 weeks. This is about 8" in diameter.
