Lamp for the Nursery (2005) I built this lamp for our daughter's nursery. It's made from soft maple, and the panels are scrollsawn from 1/8" baltic birch ply and laminated with rice paper to allow gentle light to shine through. Finish for the maple is waterborne poly (to match the rest of the furniture in the room), and the small balls are spray painted. The four scrollsawn panels contain different scenes from nursery rhymes. The 3-way switch allows the main shaded bulb or the small bulb inside the box to be operated independently. We'll most likely use the small bulb as a night light. This project turned out rather nicely, and it coordinates with the nursery rhyme theme of the room.
