Maple and Cherry Turned Platter (8/2007) Another platter from glued-up 8/4 leftovers from other projects. This one is maple with thin cherry stripes. There are several grooves on the top that surround a slightly coved rim. And the bottom is an exercise in beads - there are 3 in total with a few grooves for good measure. Perhaps a bit busy with the laminated woods, but I'm proud of the finished product. Woods are maple and cherry. Diameter is about 14". Finish is a mineral oil and parrafin wax mixture that was lightly buffed with the tripoli wheel only. Top view:
